The outermost boundary layer of the mold is enriched with a carbon-diffusing medium in a thermo-chemical process and is then quenched, i.e. hardened. After hardening, the workpiece is tempered to reduce the stresses that have formed inside it and to generate the required durability. With this additional »plus« surface hardness, KOBRA is able to extend the service life of molds decisively, depending on the production parameters in the precasting plant. All cavity walls in the mold insert are milled exactly. Smooth surfaces and precise, straight mold walls facilitate the production and demolding process.
